Creation Date: 3/24/24
My sculpt is of the Pope Lick Monster. It has always intrigued me. A goat-man monster that stalks people from under a bridge in Pope Lick Creek, in the Fisherville neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, United States. It's not your typical Bigfoot or werewolf type thing. I was excited to make a hideously ugly and frightening version of this concept. I wanted a more humanoid hybrid feel, and less goat-walking-upright.
How long have you been sculpting? What is your artistic background and style?
I've been digitally sculpting since 2013. In Zbrush. I've never really used any clay. I used to be more of an illustrator before I discovered Zbrush. Then it was sculpture all the time from there. My style is always fast and loose. I tend to get impatient when working on something too long, with too much meticulous detail. As much as I love that sort of work, and wish I could do more of it, it goes against my natural tendency to attack things quickly.
How long did it take to create the piece? What tools / software did you use for your creation? Any insight on your process?
I worked on it when I could in between other jobs, so it's hard to say how long. Maybe a day or two of total time spent. I do work fast. I used Zbrush for the sculpt, Keyshot for the renders. A slight bit of Photoshop for the final beauty render composite.
Is this piece for sale? How can a fan acquire it?
Reach out to dope@dopepope.com if interested. I can offer 3D prints.
Are you looking for work? If so, in what role & location?
Always open to work on creature related projects. I do this full time. I freelance, so I'm constantly juggling projects. I'm based in Brooklyn NYC.
